Najma battle past Barbar in handball league

Defending champions Al Najma posted a hard-earned 27-23 victory over Barbar last night in the 2022/2023 Khalid bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League, being played at the Bahrain Handball Association Arena in Um Al Hassam.
Najma were in control for much of the contest but Barbar were always within striking distance. The victors held on until the final buzzer to register their second successive victory to start the season. Barbar suffered their first defeat after drawing their opening match of the league.
Najma took an early 6-3 edge but Barbar gradually fought their way back and tied the proceedings at 9-apiece. Najma replied immediately and sparked by a Belal Basham penalty shot, they closed the half strong with a 5-1 run to take a 14-10 advantage into the locker rooms.
