Manama stay unbeaten with win over Nuwaidrat

Reigning champions Manama outclassed Nuwaidrat 84-67 last night in the opening game of week three in the 2022/2023 Zain Bahrain Basketball League, being played at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam. After leading by just one point at the interval, Manama used a strong second half to pull away from their opponents and come away with the hard-earned win. Nuwaidrat took a 45-44 advantage midway through the third quarter, but then Manama closed the period out with a 14-4 run that put them 58-49 ahead heading into the final canto.
Manama never looked back from there and they closed the game out with the final winning margin of 17 points, which was also their biggest lead of the game. Mohammed Ameer led five players in double figures with 21 points, while Ahmed Najaf had an impressive showing of 18 points and 17 rebounds. Ahmed Salman chipped in with 13, Hasan Nowrooz had 12 and Ahmed Aldurazi scored 10 points as Manama were playing without a professional.
For Nuwaidrat, Mohayed Ameer had 26 points against his former team. Hassan Abbas added 16 while American Shaquille Thomas scored 13 and grabbed 10 boards. Manama came away with their third straight victory as they maintained their unbeaten start to the new season. Nuwaidrat, on the other hand, suffered their second loss in three tries. League action continues tonight Al Hala facing Samaheej at 5.30pm followed by Al Ahli taking on Isa Town at 7.30pm at the same venue.
