Bahrain is set to host one of its biggest sporting events—in terms of the number of participants—in 2024. The ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024 will be held in Bahrain over a period of 10 days, with the participation of more than 80 countries from around the world featuring 5,000 students.
They will be competing in 25 different sports, with up to 14 locations across Bahrain being used as venues for the events. These and other details were announced yesterday by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority president and Bahrain Olympic Committee chief His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa at a special Press conference revealing details about the event, which is being held in cooperation with the International School Sport Federation (ISF).
Among those in attendance were Executive Committee chairman for the preparation of the Gymnasiade Ishaq Abdulla Ishaq, ISF president Laurent Petrynka, GSA vice-president HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, BOC vice-president HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Education Dr Majid Al Nuaimi, ISF secretary general Hrvoje Custonja, and a number of officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs.
During the conference, in recognition of the contributions to the development and promotion of the ISF movement by hosting the ISF Gymnasiade in Bahrain in 2024, HH Shaikh Khalid was awarded with a token of appreciation by Petrynka.
HH Shaikh Khalid valued the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the event.
He highlighted the continuous support that sports and athletes enjoy in the Kingdom from HM the King, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as the follow-up and relentless efforts of HM the King’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
