Manama eke past Al Najma in basketball league

Ahmed Salman made a driving lay-up with 16 seconds remaining to help Manama secure a 97-92 victory over Al Najma last night in their week six contest in the 2022/2023 Zain Bahrain Basketball League.
Manama led 95-88 with just over a minute remaining, but Najma got back to within a single possession, 92-95, with 27 seconds to go.
Salman was able to put the game away with his basket, and give Manama their fourth win in as many outings.
Salman and Mohammed Ameer scored 23 points apiece in their victory, while Ahmed Aldurazi added 19 to go with eight assists.
Nick Ward had 35 points to spearhead Najma, while Hussain Mohammed contributed 19.
They suffered their third loss in five games.
In yesterday’s other contest, Al Hala beat Al Ettihad 93-83.
Ahmed Khalifa had 33 points while Nigel Spikes added 23 and 15 rebounds to spearhead Hala.
Adrian Uter scored 24 to pace Ettihad.
Hala claimed their second win in five tries while Ettihad lost for the first time in four games.
League action continues tonight with Al Ahli facing Sitra at 7.30pm in the evening’s lone fixture.
