After a hiatus of two years due to the pandemic, American Mission Hospital is all set to hold its Annual Island Classic charity golf tournament from the 27th to the 29th of October 2022.
The 23rd Island Classic will be officially opened on the 27th of October at 12 pm.
This famous high-profile event is held every year under the patronage of His Majesty the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at His Majesty’s golf course in Saffriya.
AMH Corporate CEO/ Chief Medical officer Dr. George Cheriyan said, “For the last two years, due to the restrictions on the number of invitees at any event, we had to put the Island Classic charity golf tournament on hold.
This year, we thank His Majesty the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa who has so kindly permitted the tournament to be held on His private golf course in Saffriya.”
The tournament is designed as a handicapped team event and will follow the Florida format, in which all players play their shot from the position determined to be the best ball.
All players in a foursome team will have an equal opportunity to contribute to the overall outcome and score of the team.
Teams will be divided into two flights – Championship and Premier Flight and at the end of the three days of play; three winners from each category will be awarded.
Several side contests including Closest to the Pin, Longest Putt and the Most accurate drive will also be conducted side by side.
Sponsors have once again shown tremendous support for the event with funds being raised for the Community Outreach Programs.
