BRAVE CF 65’s Al-Derbani dismisses Jose Torres challenge: ‘’Sorry, Shorty, you’re easy fight’’

Izzedine Al-Derbani has upped the stakes ahead of his BRAVE CF 65 Bantamweight bout with Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres this weekend.

During BRAVE CF’s Media Day, the Jordanian was brutally honest about his feelings toward his co-main event opponent in the third and final leg of the BRAVE CF Kombat Kingdom series.

“I am sorry, Shorty, you’re an easy fight for me.

I know Torres is a tough guy, a good fighter. I liked watching the fight between him and Amir Albazi at BRAVE CF 23.

But I don’t know about his power’’, said the Arab superstar. With regards to his knockout power, Torres has four KO/TKO finishes out of his six stoppages.

The number-five ranked BRAVE CF Flyweight - who moves up a division - is unbeaten in the promotion with one draw coming against countryman Sean Santella at BRAVE CF 42.

However, Al-Derbani is unfazed at his opponent’s resume and says he didn’t even think twice when offered the fight.

‘’“My manager asked me ‘do you know who Shorty is?’ I said ‘yes, I know this guy’.

He then asked me if I wanted to fight with him … I didn’t even look at his fight footage or anything, all I said was ‘send me the contract, bro, I will sign’.

“At the end of the day, Shorty wants to fight with me, so I am happy to do the fight with him.

“Don’t get me wrong, he has a good level, but my level is much higher than his’’.

Al-Derbani is dropping down to Bantamweight for the first time in his professional career as he sees his BRAVE CF signing as the opportunity of a lifetime.

‘’I have always fought at Lightweight and Featherweight. To me, only a huge opportunity would make me cut down to Bantamweight. I was saving myself for it.

And now it’s here. Signing with BRAVE CF has been the huge opportunity I’ve been waiting for, and now the cut is worth it’’.

Following the success of BRAVE CF 63 and 64, BRAVE CF 65 takes place this Friday, October 28th concluding the epic nine-day Kombat Kingdom MMA Jamboree.
