East Riffa Secondary School produced a top-class performance to defeat Al Taawon Secondary School and secured a quarterfinals berth in the Nasser bin Hamad Football Tournament for Secondary Schools which is organised by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the National Bank of Bahrain and Bahrain Cinema Company (Cineco).

East Riffa entered this game while they were in third place with four points, while Ibn Khuldoon National School were in second place with four points (but had a better goal difference) and Al Taawon Secondary School were the group leaders.

Ibn Khludoon National School needed a gift from Al Taawon to progress to the quarterfinals, but East Riffa didn’t just secure a positive result but are also at the top of the group following a well-earned 2-0 victory, held at A’ali Club’s football field.

East Riffa controlled the game right from the start and had several promising opportunities. And in the 39th minute, Salah Saleh curled home an incredible goal to make it 1-0 for the winners.

Salah Al Deen Al Qashar doubled East Riffa’s lead just one minute into the second half to secure the result.

Al Taawon Secondary School’s efforts were thwarted by an incredible defensive display by East Riffa who managed to keep a clean sheet and take all the points.
