Isa Town Secondary School displayed an excellent defensive performance to share the points with Al Fateh Secondary School en route to securing first place in Group 2 of the Nasser bin Hamad Football Tournament for Secondary Schools which is organised by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) and Bahrain Cinema Company (Cineco).

Isa Town entered the game, which took place at A’ali Club’s football field, as the group leaders and needed a draw to avoid dropping down to second place.

Both teams had six points each and qualified for the quarterfinals of the tournament, but Isa Town Secondary School was leading the group thanks to the goal difference.

Al Fateh had several promising scoring opportunities but failed to convert them, and Isa Town Secondary School’s goalkeeper Hussain Fadel made two superb saves to keep the result 0-0 in the first half.

Both teams tried to break the deadlock in the second half, and Isa Town Secondary School attempted to keep possession to avoid any late surprises.

The game eventually ended 0-0. Hussain Fadel, Isa Town’s goalkeeper, was rewarded for his performance by being named the best player of the game, and it was the first time in the tournament for a goalkeeper to win this award.
