Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, kicks off today its final 10-day countdown to the highly anticipated Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain, the final round of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Taking place 11 and 12 November, the endurance racing spectacle is one of the biggest international events held annually in Sakhir, and this year it marks the culmination of the WEC’s landmark 10th anniversary season.
Fans are urged to purchase their tickets today so as not to miss out on this extra special event.
The world’s leading endurance racing drivers and teams will be battling it out in Hypercars, prototypes and sportscars, featuring some of the biggest brands in motoring.
Tickets cost just BD5 for adults and BD2.5 for kids for the twoday weekend programme.
They can be purchased online at bahraingp.com or by calling the BIC Hotline on +973-17450000.
The Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain will see a packed 37-car field line up on the BIC grid.
They will be competing in four race categories from day to night around BIC’s 5.412-kilometre track, making for a brilliant spectacle that flags off under the afternoon sun and then wraps up under the stars while being brilliantly lit by BIC’s state-of-the-art floodlights.
The WEC action promises to be intense as the 2022 season’s titles are still up for grabs.
There will also be plenty of action in support of the WEC, including the WTCR Race of Bahrain, part of the 2022 WTCR-FIA World Touring Car Cup, and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East.
The WTCR Race of Bahrain will mark the inaugural appearance for the championship in the Kingdom and in the region, and it will also be the first time that it will be taking to the track alongside the FIA WEC—making for an exciting double-header of sportscar and touring car racing.
The Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East is the region’s premier one-make series that is based at BIC, and it will feature a highly talented field of the Middle East’s best gentleman racers.
They will be suiting up to drive in identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport cars, and they will be racing in the first round of their 2022/2023 campaign.
To complement the racing on the track, BIC has lined up an incredible series of off-track entertainment for the race weekend.
These include incredible stunt shows from The Stannage Stunt Team as well as Terry Grant and Lee Bowers, plus a classic car show featuring some of the rarest cars around, live music and a kids’ zone—something for the whole family to enjoy! The Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain’s significance goes beyond the racing entertainment.
This year, BIC will be implementing a ground-breaking new Green Ticket project, which will set the benchmark for a number of initiatives in areas of sustainability.
This very special initiative is being done in cooperation with The Oil and Gas Holding Company BSC ‘nogaholding’ and The Government of Bahrain.
A proportion of the ticket price, together with an amount matched by nogaholding, will be donated to a local environmental project in cooperation with the Government.
This particular fund will finance the planting of mangroves in Bahrain, and meaningfully contribute to Bahrain’s commitment to quadruple mangrove coverage in The Kingdom by 2035.
