Nasser bin Hamad cycling tour set

The second edition of the Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour for Amateurs will be taking place tomorrow to Saturday in Zallaq.

The event is being held under the patronage of His Majesty the King’s Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs representative and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The three-day tour, organised by Faalyat in cooperation with the Bahrain Cycling Association, features a total prize purse of BD27,000, with prizes to be won on each day and at the end of the event by competitors as individuals and teams.

The first stage tomorrow is scheduled to begin at 3pm and it will feature a distance of 55 to 60km.

On Friday, the second leg starting at 8am will cover 120 to 140km, and then on Saturday the final leg kicking off at 8am will be over 60 to 70km.

The women’s race, also to be held Saturday, will be over 50 to 60km starting at 8.10am.

There are various categories for men and women.

They include Bahraini Amateurs and GCC, Bahrain National Team and Expatriates living in Bahrain for men; and Bahraini Amateurs and GCC, Bahrain National Team cyclists and Expatriates living in Bahrain for women.

Victors in each stage will come away with winners’ jerseys of different colours.

For the Bahraini Amateurs both men and women, the overall winner will claim a red jersey, the points winner a yellow jersey, the over-40 winner a white jersey and the under-23 Bahraini winner a blue jersey.

For the GCC, Bahrain National Team cyclists and Expatriates living in Bahrain, both men and women, the overall winner will claim an orange jersey, the winner by points a green jersey and the under-23 winner a purple jersey
