Al Najma got off to a winning start last night in the 2022/2023 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League, being played at the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) Arena at Isa Sports City in Riffa.

Najma cruised to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25- 21) victory against Etehad Al Reef Club in their group one clash of this year’s league.

The BVA has implemented a new system for the 2022/2023 campaign.

All 14 clubs under the umbrella of the BVA will now feature in the Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League.

For the first round of action, they will be divided into two groups, based on their position from the previous season in the first and second divisions.

Group one features Al Ahli, Najma, Nabih Saleh, Bani Jamra, Al Shabab, Ma’ameer and Etehad Al Reef.

Group two features Al Nasser, Dar Kulaib, Muharraq, A’ali, Tadhamon, Busaiteen and Al Dair.

Following a single round-robin, the top three from each division move on to compete in the round of six for the league title.

Action in this stage will feature two rounds, with the top four moving on to the Golden Square semi-finals.

The rest of the teams will play a single round for the right to clinch the BVA League championship.

Furthermore, the top six teams along with the top two from the BVA League will earn the right to compete in the Crown Prince’s Cup knockout tournament.
