Bahrain set for Neom Beach Soccer Cup

Bahrain’s national beach soccer team is gearing up to participate in the Neom Beach Soccer Cup 2022, which is scheduled to take place in Neom, Saudi Arabia from 9 to 12 November.

The Bahrainis are one of eight teams from around the world taking part in the event, which is being held as part of the Neom Beach Games 2022.

The other national sides include beach soccer powerhouses Brazil, Japan, England and Paraguay along with Gulf sides Oman, the UAE, and hosts Saudi.

Bahrain have been grouped together with Brazil, Japan and Oman for the opening stage. Their first game will be against the Brazilians on opening day.

They then take on their Japanese counterparts the following evening, before completing the group stage against Oman on 11 November.

Following the single round-robin, the match-ups for the competition’s final day on 12 November will be determined.

Four games will be played to complete the final rankings from first through eighth place overall.

The Bahrainis are coached by Sadeq Marhoon and they have stepped up their local training recently in preparation for the competition.

The Neom Beach Games 2022 will bring together leading world-class sport events with high-performance athletes from over 25 countries, as the region aims to become a hub for sport.

The series of major sport events launched on 19 October and it features five dynamic sports, namely kitesurfing, triathlon, 3x3 basketball, beach soccer and mountain biking—all taking place on different dates.
