The pairing of Max Pade and Tim Vaisman barged through to the boys’ doubles semi-finals after ousting top seeds Dmitry Bessonov and Marko Milosavljevic yesterday in the second Bahrain event of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour Juniors Calendar 2022.

Pade, from Germany, and Vaisman, from Israel, needed to battle back from a set down to claim their hard-earned victory with a 3-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7 score line.

They thus marched through to the category’s final four, where they will take on Qatari brothers Rashed and Mashari Nawaf, who were the boys’ doubles champions of the first Bahrain ITF event held last week.

The Nawaf siblings earned their berth after defeating Aryan Nanda of India and Maciej Zarebski of Poland 6-0, 6-2.

The other semi-final will be contested between the Australian-Chinese tandem of Ethan Gottschalk and Yahan Zhang and the American-Georgian duo of David Prasievi and Seth Sadikov.

Gotsschalk and Zhang beat fourth seeds Yannick Maser of Germany and Rayan Sajjid Koothrat of India 6-4, 7-6 (6) while Prasievi and Sadikov stunned second seeds Maxwell Castle of Great Britain and Vineeth Mutyala of India 6-4, 6-2.

The boys’ doubles semi-finals are scheduled to be played today.

On the distaff, the girls’ doubles semi-finals are also set.

Top seeds Munisa Ashurbekova from Uzbekistan and Eda Numanoglu of Tukrey will take on Katarina Curcic of Serbia and Laura Maser of Germany in one clash; while the Israeli pair of Shira Buhadana and Inbar Pony will face compatriot Mori Grylak and her playing partner Tamara Ermakova, who are the second seeds, in the other last four encounter.

Munisa and Eda booked their berths with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Zeynep Polat of Turkey and Aleksandra Rozkalne of Latvia, while Katarina and Laura upset third seeds Kariman Buqai and May Fadida of Israel 6-4, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Shira and Inbar beat the British pair of Annabel Hristova and Vlaada Kozak 6-3, 7-6 (4), and Mori and Tamara overcame a tough challenge from Romanian-Indian duo Daria-Maria Anghel and Diya Tamse 5-7, 6-2, 10-2.

In singles play yesterday, winners in the boys’ draw were fourth seed Rashed Nawaf, his brother Mashari, Sadikov, Rares Andrei Golescu of Romania, Ethan Dasset of Belgium, sixth seed Aril Kayra Tuna of Turkey, Zhang of China and Yannick Maser.
