Mohammed wins cycling tour’s opening stage

Jassim Mohammed clinched first place in the Bahraini riders’ category at the end of the first stage of the second Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour, which got underway yesterday.

The three-day event is being organised by the Bahrain Cycling Association (BCA) in collaboration with Faaliyat. On the occasion of the race start, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, expressed his happiness at the broad participation featured on the first day.

HH Shaikh Nasser underlined that cycling in the Kingdom is heading towards broader development and prosperity after making many successes in the past period abroad, adding that the tour represents a key factor for injecting new Bahraini talents to the national teams as well as allowing them to be professional riders.

Several other riders also joined Mohammed as triumphed at the end of the 65-kilometre first stage. Yesterday’s winners were presented their respective prizes in the presence of BCA president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa; Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director of Strategy and Planning at Gulf Air; Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa from the Corporate Communications and Sustainability at Batelco; and Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, CEO of Bapco, as well as other officials.
