Bahrain’s youth girls’ national football team have been drawn in a tough Group C for the qualifiers of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2024.

The nationals are in the same division as Palestine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. The matches will be held at a centralised venue in Hanoi in April of next year.

The Bahrainis are among 29 teams competing across eight groups in the first round of qualification, with only the top team from each group advancing to round two.

There, the remaining eight will be divided into two groups, with the top two teams from each group joining the three highest-seeded sides from the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Thailand in 2019— defending champions Japan, North Korea and China—along with hosts Indonesia in the competition proper.

The Bahraini girls have already begun their preparations for the qualifiers.

They recently played three friendly matches in the UAE against their Emirati counterparts, under the supervision of head coach Khaled Hassan.

The nationals featured a 27-player roster for their tuneup games, including Dawa Nasser, Jawaher Fadhel, Maryam Issa, Maya Abdulla, Maryam Thamer, Amani Tariq, Aya Louay, Sariya Nawaf, Maryam Khaled, Fatima Youssef, Talia Nawaf, Hala Adel, Leyah Mohammed, Kafia Sukrutraj, Rawan Saleh, Sarah Sultan, Fatima Waleed, Amina Hamad, Shaikha Salman, Jood Majid, Malak Abdulhalim, Shawq Abdulhalim, Lujain Babar, Jawaher Khaled, Jood Abdulhabi, Jana Abdulhadi and Hana Zara.
