The Bahrain Royal Night Half Marathon has been awarded the World Athletics Road Race Elite status for 2023.

This was announced by World Athletics, the sport’s international governing body, on its calendar of Label Road Races for next year.

The “Elite” label is one of the top-tier categories for road racing events under World Athletics, following the Platinum and Gold Label races.

Next year’s Bahrain Royal Night Half Marathon is scheduled for December 22.

This year, the event is set to take place on December 23 as a Label road race, according to the World Athletics calendar. The Bahrain Royal Night Half Marathon is one of the world’s leading half marathons.

With its label status, the race has cemented its position as a hugely popular event with a worldwide audience.

The World Athletics Label is granted to races based on stringent criteria, including organisational excellence, a world-class elite field representation, prize money for runners, an exhaustive medical support system, live TV coverage, media facilities, and timing and qualified personnel to ensure the smooth running of the event across various committees, among others.

Meanwhile, the BAA announced that registration is now open for this year’s event. Those interested can sign up on bahrainhalfmarathon.bh.
