Al Fateh Secondary School team and Al Ta’awon Secondary school team booked their place in the semifinals of the Nasser bin Hamad Football Tournament for Secondary Schools.

Al Fateh Secondary School team entered their match against Al Hedaya Al Khalifia Secondary School team as the underdogs but shocked their opposition 2-0, while Al Ta’awon Secondary School team secured a comfortable 4-0 win against Al Jabriya Technical School.

Al Hedaya Al Khalifia Secondary School team kicked themselves in the foot after wasting three golden opportunities in the first half, followed by a defensive error which resulted in awarding Al Fateh Secondary School team a penalty kick converted by Nasser Awad in the 28th minute.

The winners’ goalkeeper’s incredible save in the opening minutes of the second half kept the result at 1-0.

Both teams had several chances to find the net, but Al Fateh Secondary School team killed their opposition’s hopes to level the score by doubling their lead in the 40th minute of the second half through Ahmed Al Dooseri.

The latter tapped in a ball pushed towards him by the goalkeeper after a strong long-distance effort stung his gloves.

Al Hedaya Al Khalifia team sank into the depths of despair as two players from them saw red cards for protesting about refereeing decisions.

Defender Ali Sa’ad of Al Fateh Secondary School team was named the best player in the match.

On the other hand, Al Ta’awon Secondary School team didn’t face any real obstacles to breeze past Al Jabriya Technical School team.

They secured an early lead in the 6th minute through Ahmed Al Barri, and Sayed Ali Abduljalil exploited a defensive error in the first minutes of the second half to make it 2-0.

Al Jabriya Technical School had promising scoring opportunities in the second half, but Al Ta’awon’s star goalkeeper Aqeel Ali Juma’s heroics denied them.

And they were made again to pay the price of their defensive errors as Sayed Abduljalil and Al Barri scored the third and fourth goals respectively to complete the rout.

Goalkeeper Aqeel Ali was named the best player in the game.

The event is organised by the Ministery of Education and sponsored by the National Bank Bahrain (Platinum Sponsor) and Bahrain Cinema Company (CiPlayers in action during a match neco - Gold Sponsor)
