Ironman Bahrain flags off with Ironkids

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the feature event in the Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain will take place today with the participation of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and Bahrain Olympic Committee Chief.

HH Shaikh Nasser will take part in the event representing the Victorious and KHK team, while HH Shaikh Khalid will compete in the swimming leg, which will cover a distance of 1.9km. On this occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the Kingdom will continue to attract and host major international competitions that contribute to achieving the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in order to make the Kingdom a leading destination for hosting sports events that promote the accomplishments that have been achieved in the prosperous era of HM the King.

Moreover, HH Shaikh Nasser praised the interest and support of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, HRH’s constant follow-up, which contributes to activating the role of sports in realising Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

HH Shaikh Nasser said: “The continued successes achieved by the Kingdom in the past period in hosting major sports events have shifted the world’s attention towards Bahrain.

“This is our ultimate goal as we want the sports sector to contribute to promoting Bahrain and perfectly take advantage of the major events. “All the events hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain represent a real milestone in paving the way for the Kingdom to make it a leading destination for big championships.”

HH Shaikh Nasser added that everyone will double their efforts in order to accomplish a new success to be added to the series of achievements that have been made in the past period through an ideal organisation for this year’s ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship.

Wide participation

In the presence of HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid, the children of HH Shaikh Nasser, Her Highness Shaikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Hamdan bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, participated in the Ironkids fun run, which witnessed a large and wide participation.

HH Shaikh Nasser also participated in the event with his son HH Shaikh Khalid bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. HH Shaikh Khalid’s children also participated, namely His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Her Highness Shaikha Munira bint Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
