Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa congratulated BIC Digital VAS Content Executive Faten Hasan Amin for becoming the first ever Bahraini woman to be recognised in the FIA Volunteers and Officials Awards.

Through her role as a volunteer with the BMF in her spare time, Faten has won the Best Chief Observer of the Year distinction in the 2022 edition of the awards, which recognise the tireless efforts of the men and women who are the backbone of motorsport competitions all over the world.

The list of winners was announced last week by the FIA Volunteers and Officials Commission, which is headed by Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) General Manager Abdulaziz Al Thawadi. Faten is amongst a group of eight individuals and one E-Prix team who have come away with an award.

The winners, comprised of marshals, officials and medical support staff, hail from Mexico, France, Australia, Spain, the US, Lebanon, the UK, South Korea and Bahrain.

On this occasion, Shaikh Salman commented: “Our heartfelt congratulations go out to Faten for receiving this tremendous honour. “Her award is the result of her dedication and passion to her role and is a testament to the talent of the Bahraini women we have in the Bahrain motorsport family.

“We wish Faten continued success and may this award be an inspiration to others to become involved in the sport.”

On her part, Faten commented: “I am truly honoured and humbled to have received this award.

I have been working very hard to give my best to Bahraini motorsport and I am so thankful for this distinction.

“I thank all my mentors and colleagues at the Bahrain Motor Federation, Motorsport Marshals Club and BIC for their continued support and I hope to help inspire more Bahrainis, especially women, to volunteer.”

“While I greatly appreciate being named the Best Chief Observer of the Year, I have to say that I am only as good as the people around me and whatever I achieve is also theirs.”

The Awards Committee was comprised of Thawadi; Michael Smith, Vice-President of the FIA Volunteers and Officials Commission (Motorsport Australia); Michael “Herbie” Blash, FIA Marshals Ambassador (Motorsport UK); and Tim Malyon, Secretariat of the Volunteers and Officials Commission (FIA).
