Al Najma emerged triumphant against Al Ahli in a clash of titans last night in week seven of the 2022/2023 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League.

Both teams headed into the contest with undefeated records after six games, but at the final whistle it was Najma who were still standing as they defeated their fellow-title hopefuls 3-1 (14-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-18) with a fine, come-from-behind performance.

Playing key roles for the victors were Fadhel Abbas, Mohammed Habib, Mahmood Hasan, Ali Ebrahim and Mirza Abdulla, to name a few.

For Ahli, they relied on the talents of Mohammed Anan, Ali Al Sairafi, Nasser Anan, Abbas Al Khabbaz, Sayed Mohammed Al Abbar and Mahmood Abdulhussain.

With the result, Najma improved to a 6-0 win-loss record and end the league’s first round in first place in Group One.

Ahli suffered their first loss to go to a 5-1 mark.

Both teams are already through to the ensuing round of six.

Other teams in Group One are Bani Jamra, Ma’ameer, Etehad Al Reef, Nabih Saleh and Al Shabab.

Group Two consists of Muharraq, Al Dair, Al Nasser, Al Tadhamun, Busaiteen, A’ali and Dar Kulaib.

Following the ongoing single round-robin, the top three from each division move on to compete in the round of six for the league title.

Action in this stage will feature two rounds, with the top four moving on to the Golden Square semi-finals.
