Manama outclass Isa Town in basketball league

Defending champions Manama outclassed Isa Town 95-85 last night to end their round one campaign on a winning note in the 2022/2023 Zain Bahrain Basketball League.
Manama took control of the contest in the second quarter when they turned a 24-22 advantage after the first to a 51-41 lead at the break.
They never looked back the rest of the way and took their biggest lead of 18, 92-74, on a three-pointer by Elijah Robinson with less than five minutes to go in the final period.
Three Manama players finished the game with over 20 points, with Hassan Nowrooz’s 26 leadin the way.
The sharp-shooting two guard had six three-poiinters for Manama and also dished out six assists.
Robinson added 23 in the victory while court general Ahmed Aldurazi scored 22.
For Isa Town, who never led in the affair, were paced by Oumar Barry, who scored 26 points and took down 12 rebounds.
Talal Qaheri and Hussain Mahdi added 16 apiece.
With the result, Manama improved to a 9-1 win-loss record for first place on the league standings while Isa Town suffered their ninth loss to complete the first stage in last place.
League action continues tonight with Bahrain Club taking on Al Najma.
Tomorrow, Muharraq play Sitra while Ahli go against Al Ettihad.
That will mark the final day of the opening round of play this season.
Following a second round-robin, the league’s top six will move on to the playoffs, to determine the four that will march through to the Golden Square semi-finals.
