Manama cruise past Samaheej in basketball league

Defending champions Manama kickstarted the second round of the 2022/2023 Zain Bahrain Basketball League with a convincing 79-66 victory over Samaheej last night at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam.

After ending the first quarter in a 15-all deadlock, Manama separated themselves from their rivals in the second period as they went ahead 39-29 at the half.

They maintained their strong play in the third and led by as many as 21 points before cruising in the final canto.

American professional Lamonte Ulmer is top-scored for Manama with 21 points.

Hasan Nowrooz added 16, including a perfect four-for-four from beyond the three-point line, while dishing out eight assists.

Stephen Hurt paced Samaheej with 22 and 16 rebounds while Basel Adel added 16.

With the result, Manama claimed their league-leading 10th victory as they stayed atop the standings. Samaheej were dealt their ninth loss.

League action continues tonight with Al Ahli facing Al Najma at 5.30 pm, followed by Isa Town playing Sitra at 7.30 pm.

Tomorrow, Al Hala and Bahrain Club face off while Manama takes on Nuwaidrat.
