Drag racers back in action this week for second round of heated head-to-head battles at BIC

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) is bringing the heat this week for all motorsport fans to enjoy amidst the cool, festive season with the second round of the 2022/2023 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship.

Kicked off yesterday night and lighting up the strip until Friday, the meeting is set to attract the region’s best drag racing individuals and teams for four days of non-stop action at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, part of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Worldwide Network.

Following the exciting season-opener held earlier this month, which brought together a huge field of around 150 cars and 65 motorbikes, an even bigger turnout is expected this week with plenty on the line including winners’ trophies, championship points and bragging rights.

Racing in the first round took place in 13 classes for both cars and bikes, and the battles are expected to get even more intense.

The second round gots underway with two nights of Test and Tune yesterday and today, scheduled to be held between 6pm and midnight both nights. Qualifying will then take place tomorrow from 4pm onwards, setting up the pairings for the first eliminations on Race Day, which is slated for Friday from 4pm until the last run.

Tickets cost BD3 for the Batelco Grandstand for Qualifying and Race Day.

For each night of Test and Tune, tickets are BD2 for the Batelco Grandstand.

The 2022/2023 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship continues until February of next year.

Following this week’s meeting, round three will be held from 3 to 6 January, 2023.

The fourth and penultimate round will then take place from 31 January to 3 February, setting the stage for the season-finale from 21 to 24 February.
