Bahrain1 Racing maintain winning ways

Bahrain 1 Racing and Khaled Al Balooshi maintained their perfect start to the 2022/2023 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship by taking the Pro Mod victory in the season’s second round, held over the weekend at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
Christmas trees marking the festive season were lit up not only in homes all across the Kingdom, but at the start line as well of the world-class quarter-mile drag strip at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, a member of the Worldwide Network of the US-based National Hot Rod Association.
The modern electronic system signalled the beginning of each of the meeting’s head-to-head runs, and there was plenty of heated action to enjoy for the hundreds of fans in attendance.
Al Balooshi was the star man for the second round in a row after securing first place in his Bahrain1 challenger in the Pro Mod class.
The Emirati had a winning time of 3.760 seconds at 320.03kph in the final, beating Muslem Algalaf from Saudi Arabia, who had a red light.
Obaid Alblooshi, also from the UAE, came third. Pro Mod was one of the 13 categories for cars and motorbikes that featured in the round.
Five of the others were won by Bahraini competitors, including Abdulla Yaqoob in the 10.0 Index, Hussain Almahroos in the 8.5 Index, Yousif Alzayani in the Outlaw 6-Cylinder, Hussain Ahmed in the Pro 29.5 V8 and Yusuf Faisal in the Street Fight Bikes 9.5.
Yaqoob clinched the winner’s trophy in the 10.0 Index class after defeating fellow-Bahraini Abdulla Aldoseri in the final.
Yaqoob had a time of 10.079s at 212.80kph. Mubarak Aldoseri was classified third. Almahroos won the 8.5 Index with a time of 8.523s at 244.74kph, defeating Hussain Ali, also of Bahrain, in their decisive run, with Fahad Khadada from Kuwait coming third.
Alzayani triumphed in the Outlaw 6-Cylinder category after beating Nawaf Almannai in the final with a winning time of 4.461s at 266.93kph.
Mohamed Khunaizi completed the all-Bahraini podium in third place. Ahmed followed suit in the Pro 29.5 V8, winning in 4.570s at 234.07kph, beating Majed Al Harbi from Saudi Arabia.
Mohammed Almerbati was ranked third. Faisal completed the Bahraini winners in the Street Fight Bikes 9.5 class, where he won the category final in 9.551s at 228.45kph.
Fadi Sameh from Saudi Arabia was the runner-up while Yousif Almoslmani finished third.
Elsewhere in the meeting, it was an all-Kuwaiti sweep of the other cars categories.
Khaled Alghlooshi won the 9.0 Index with a 9.076s elapsed time at 226.32kph, Jehad Ahmed took the Outlaw 4-Cylinder win with his opponent disqualified in the final, Sayed Hussain Alhaddad triumphed in the 7.5 Index with a time of 7.526s at 290.05kph, and Ibrahim Abbas won in the Competition 4.5 in 4.545s at 239.93kph.
In the motorbikes classes, Fadi Sameh from Saudi won the 8.5 Index Bikes in 8.507s at 229.50kph, his countryman Mishari Alturki claimed the Pro Street Bikes win in 4.539s at 260.67kph, and Jihad Aljamal from Lebanon took the Outlaw Bikes win in 4.652s at 261.13kph.
Following all the action, the winners were presented their respective trophies in the podium ceremonies by officials from BIC, the Bahrain Motor Federation and the Bahrain Drag Racing Committee.
The five-round 2022/2023 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship continues until February of next year. Round three is scheduled for 3 to 6 January, 2023, to be followed by the fourth and penultimate round from 31 January to 3 February.
That will set the stage for the season-finale from 21 to 24 February.
