Ahli hold off Isa Town in basketball league

Al Ahli defeated Isa Town 94-91 last night to wrap up week 14 in the 2022/2023 Zain Bahrain Basketball League. Isa Town held. slim 24-22 advantage at the end of the first quarter but Ahli turned things around in the second period to go ahead 56-46 at the half.
Ahli maintained their advantage from there and staved off a late Isa Town charge, in which they got back to within three points in the game’s closing moments. An Ali Aqeel free-throw gave Ahli a 94-89 edge with 24 seconds remaining, and then Mohammed Nabeel had a lay-up to peg the final score.
Aqeel led five Ahli players in double figures with 26 points, while Hesham Sarhan had 18, Subah Hussain 17, American professional Lenny Daniel 15 and Maitham Jameel 11 off the bench. Nabeel had 23 to pace Isa Town while import Oumar Barry contributed 21 in the loss.
With the result, Ahli improved to a 10-2 win-loss record while Isa Town dropped to a 1-11 mark at the bottom of the table.
