Bahrain’s youth girls national football team lost to their counterparts from Palestine 0-2 last night in their final preliminary round match of the third West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) U16 Girls Championship, currently being held in Amman.
The nationals gave up a goal on either side of half-time.
Tala Gabi opened the scoring for the Palestinians in the 25th minute and then Rand Qudsi doubled their advantage in the 67th.
It was the third straight loss for Bahrain in the tournament.
They previously went down to Lebanon 0-2 and then lost to hosts Jordan 0-1.
The Bahrainis are assured of last place in this stage of the competition.
Following this single round-robin, the teams ranked first and second on the table will play for the tournament title, while the third and fourth-placed squads will battle for the bronze medals. Bahrain now await their opponents in the game for third place.
The nationals are also competing in the tournament to prepare for the 2024 AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup qualification competition, which will be held in April.
