Bahrain’s youth girls national team finished fourth overall in the third West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) U16 Girls Championship, held in Amman.
The Bahrainis clinched their final classification in the four-nation tournament following a 1-2 loss against Palestine yesterday in the game for third place.
Natal Bahbah scored the winning goal for the Palestinians three minutes from full time.
Tala Gabi had earlier opened the scoring with a goal for the winners in the 27th minute, but Bahrain’s Hannah Ellen was able to equalise in the 80th minute.
The contest wrapped up Bahrain’s participation in the tournament. The gold and silver medals were contested between hosts Jordan and Lebanon.
The nationals competed in the event as part of their preparations for the 2024 AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup qualification competition, which will be held in April.
