BRAVE Combat Federation has announced a change to its Lightweight championship, as lineal champion Ahmed Amir has been stripped of his title due to an uncertainty regarding his return to competition.

That means interim titleholder Abdisalam Kubanychbek will have the opportunity to unify the 155-pound world title when he takes on Kamil Magomedov in the main event of BRAVE CF 69, set for Belgrade, Serbia, on February 18.

Kubanychbek earned the provisional belt when he bested Olzhas Eskaraev at BRAVE CF 59, in a Fight of The Year candidate back in June of 2022.

Since then, he has campaigned for a fight against Amir, whose status remains unclear forcing BRAVE Combat Federation to move on with the division officially.

Initially, Akhmed Shervaniev was next in line, since he beat Kamil Magomedov in a razor-thin split decision at BRAVE CF 62 – their battle also earning a nomination for the 2022 BRAVE CF End of Year Awards, as Fight of The Year.

However, Shervaniev couldn’t accept the unification bout due to injury, making Kamil the obvious choice to replace him.

The unification bout is the first to be announced for BRAVE CF’s return to Serbia, as Belgrade will again host BRAVE CF following the raging success of BRAVE CF 56.

BRAVE Nation can expect further announcements in the coming days as BRAVE CF 69 shapes up to be the event of the year in the Balkans.
