Following an exceptional 2022 that included a pair of championship titles in top-class karting series across the region, Bahrain-based racing sensation Lewis Smith is looking forward to an even more successful 2023 as he continues to aspire in his motorsport journey.

The 17-year-old Briton is all set to pick up from where he left off when he competes for the first time this year over the weekend in the 2022/2023 Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge (BRMC).

Lewis enjoyed a number of fantastic achievements last year.

These were highlighted by his X30 Senior title triumph in the IAME Summer Series 2022 in the UAE last June, as well as capturing the Senior MAX crown in the 2022 Sakhir Rotax MAX Challenge (SRMC) in November.

Lewis had also displayed his limitless potential in numerous events across Europe over the summer months, before wrapping up the year with a podium for Team Bahrain in the MENA Karting Championship Nations Cup in Oman.

“It was a tremendous 2022 with a lot of wonderful moments both on and off the track,” said Lewis, who was boosted by the timely support of aviation industry giants JBT AeroTech Corporation and pest management and disinfection experts VermineX.

“I really enjoyed getting out there and competing against some really talented racers, and winning the titles in the IAME Summer Series and the Sakhir Rotax MAX Challenge was the icing on the cake.

“I learned a lot in all the championships I raced in here in Bahrain, across the Gulf and in Europe, and I have taken those lessons to heart as I prepared for this new year of competition.”

Lewis now has his sights set on going one level higher in 2023, starting with his title bid in the BRMC.

Lewis is currently one of the leading championship contenders in the series’ Senior MAX category, and he will be resuming his fight with rounds four and five tomorrow and Saturday at Bahrain International Karting Circuit in Sakhir.

Lewis also plans to race in various championships regionally and on the global stage in the coming months.

“I hope to continue growing and maturing as a racer, and of course to continue winning and filling up my trophy cabinet,” said the British School of Bahrain student.

“Most importantly, I want to keep progressing in my motorsport career. I want to keep gaining more valuable experience and having fun while doing it.

“It is also an important goal of mine to continue representing the Kingdom of Bahrain and my team Victorious Motorsport at the highest levels of karting, flying the Bahrain flag high and making the racing community here proud.

“I’m excited to get out on track competitively for the first time this year and I thank my fellow racers, my family and friends, and all those who have supported me for always believing in me in my racing dreams.” Lewis is one of Bahrain’s most exciting young karting talents.

He has made a name for himself on the national, regional and international stage and continues to flourish at all levels.

Lewis is continuously looking for support from Bahrain companies for sponsorship opportunities, which would offer exposure all across Europe and the region, and within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
