Muharaq overpower Sitra in basketball league

Muharaq powered to a resounding 113-94 victory over Sitra last night to get week 17 underway in the 2022/2023 Zain Bahrain Basketball League.
The victors used a strong second quarter turn a slim 27-28 deficit at the end of the first quarter to a 56-48 lead at the half.
They then blew the game wide open with a 33-25 third period to extend their lead to 89-72 heading into the final canto, where they cruised to the final result.
Muharaq enjoyed leads as big as 24 points enroute to the final Whistle.
American professional Tony Mitchell top scored for the winners with 34 points, including six three-pointers.
He also had 18 rebounds and eight assists, nearly making for a triple -double. Skipper Bader Abdulla Malabes added 20 points while Hussain Salman had 15 and Ali Jaffer 13.
For Sitra, Malik Wineglass scores 36 while Ali Eid contributed 25, including seven triples, in the defeat.
With the result, Muharaq claimed their 11th win to go with four losses while Sitra suffered their 12th defeat to go with three wins.
League action continues tonight with defending champions Manama playing bottom-of -the- table club Isa Town at 5.30pm, followed at 7.30pm by Al Najma facing off with Bahrain Club.
Tomorrow, Al Hala and Nuwaidrat lock horns at 6pm.
