Ebrahim powers Al Najma to resounding five-set victory

Al Najma eked out a thrilling five-set victory over Dar Kulaib last night in a battle of volleyball juggernauts in the round-of-six of the 2022/2023 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League.
The game wrapped up the opening phase of this stage in the league. It was played at a rocking Isa bin Rashid Arena at the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) headquarters, located at Isa Sports City in Riffa, attended by BVA president Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and a large crowd of fans.
Najma battled back from a set down to level the proceedings at 1-1 before narrowly taking the third set by just two points.
Dar Kulaib recovered in set four to force the tie-break, where Najma built an early lead and held on to close the contest out with a 3-2 (26-28, 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 15-11) score line.
With the result, Najma improved to a 4-1 win-loss record while Dar Kulaib went down to a 3-2 mark.
Ali Ebrahim was the star man for Najma, scoring an impressive 30 points in the game.
Also playing key roles were Fadhel Abbas, Mahmood Hasan, libero Ayman Haroona, Mirza Abdulla, and Estonian professional Kevin Saar, who hit the decisive spike on their first match point to seal the win.
For Dar Kulaib, Mohammed Yaqoob was their leading performer, with Ali Habib, Mahmood Abdulwahed, Ayman Isa and Hussain Sultan also making timely contributions.
In another round-of-six fixture, Al Ahli swept past Al Nasser 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-15).
Mohammed Anan scored 17 points in the win while Nasser Anan added 16 for Ahli.
They improved to a 4-1 win-loss record to end this stage’s first phase, while Nasser dropped their third game to go with two wins.
The schedule of matches for the second phase of the roundof-six has yet to be released by the BVA.
