Al Bastaki triumphs in Showjumping Championship

Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Showjumping Committee at the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) crowned Haytham Al Bastaki of the Ministry of Interior as the winner of the grand prize of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Showjumping Championship which took place at the Military Federation arena in Al Raffah.

The Ministry of Interior swept the podium of the main event which included 130/140cm hurdles.

Al Bastaki clocked 47.10 seconds en route to emerging as the victor. In second place came Mohammed Ali Radhi of the Ministry of Interior too who finished the contest in 40.40 seconds, but he was penalised for committing four faults.

Their teammate Hussain Mohammed Dadallah came third in 40.61 seconds (he committed four faults too).

Commenting on this, Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khalifa praised the unlimited support provided by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to equestrian sports in general and showjumping in particular, stating that His Highness’ annual patronage to one of the showjumping champions achieves the ambitions and visions of the Board of Directors of BREEF.

The Championships exhibited various competitions, and Mayoof Al Rumaihi of the Ministry of Interior triumphed at the third contest which included 100/105cm hurdles and was for amateur athletes. He posted a time of 34.26 seconds.

Meanwhile, Sultan Al Rumaihi of the Ministry of Interior won the fourth competition which was for senior athletes and included 110/120cm hurdles.

He completed it in 50.07 seconds. Finally, Ali Isa of the Ministry of Interior clocked 44.71 seconds to win the fifth contest, during which participants had to jump over 120/130cm hurdles.
