Favourite ‘No Doubt’ wins richest race

The favourite No Doubt owned by H and R Stables, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Brett Doyle won one of the two richest races yesterday at the second meeting of the season at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, for The Late Abdulhadi Al Afoo Cup for handicap (50 70 (Open) for three years and upwards over 1,400 metres and worth BD2,000. 

Coming in second place three quarters of a length behind was the third favourite Punk owned by Fawzi Abdulla Nass, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by Ahmed Makki, with Mayo Lad owned by Al Afoo Racing Stable, trained by Bader Al Abed and ridden by Duran Fentiman a further length and a half behind in third, with Karma Chameleon owned by EERC, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by Hussain Makki in fourth.

In another feature race for The Late S Sharif Al Alawi Cup for all classes of locally bred three years and upwards over 1,600 metres and worth BD2,000, third favourite Harash owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and ridden by Andrew Elliott was the winner.

Coming in second place a length and a quarter behind was Wayne Looney owned by H and R Stables, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Rosie Jessop, with the favourite Hashaar owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and ridden by Alberto Sanna a further six lengths behind in third, with Rising Sun owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Ahmed Akbar in fourth.

Race 3: Al Sakhir Cup for Arabian Horses, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and maidens 3 years and upwards. 1,200 metres BD1,500. 1) Al Rabda 1558/ Hussain Makki, 2) Al Jellabby 1434/Abdulla Faisal, 3) Al Saqlawy 1564/Alberto Sanna, 4) Kuheilan Al Adiyat 1587/ Brett Doyle.
