Najma leads semi-finalists in Khalid bin Hamad handball

Defending champions Al Najma spearhead the four-team line-up of semi-finalists in the 2022/2023 Khalid bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League.

The three-time defending champions, who are gunning for an historic fourth successive national crown, secured first place at the end of the preliminary round with a 9-0- 1 win-draw-loss record in 10 games.

They thus own the top seed in the final four, and will now take on Al Ettifaq in a best-of-three series. Ettifaq finished the league’s opening stage with an impressive eight wins in their 10 matches with no draws, but now have a monumental task against the reigning title holdes.

Meanwhile, the other semi-final will be played between second seeds Al Shabab and third-ranked Al Ahli. Like Ettifaq, Shabab finished the preliminaries with eight victories and two losses. Ahli, on the other hand, registered seven wins, two draws and one loss to claim their final standing on the table. Shabab and Ahli will also face off over a best-of-three format. Matches are scheduled to be played next week with the Bahrain Handball Association yet to release the game schedule.
