Exciting eight-race card set for today at REHC

The HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup will be up for the taking today in the feature event of an eight-race card at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.

The prestigious trophy, which carries a massive total prize of BD12,000, will be contested over eight furlongs, with nine imported horses taking part. Among them are Al Mohamediya Racing’s Chimgan, Al Adiyat Racing’s Mr McCann, and Victorious and Fawzi Nass’s Dark Lion.

Also set to compete are Coolagh Forest for MKAR Racing, Harbour Spirit for Ramadhan Stable, Jazeel for Ahmed Isa and the Al Afoo Racing duo of Maystar and Mehmento. Meanwhile, a HH Shaikh Isa bin Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa Cup is to be won in the day’s fifth race, to be held over seven furlongs with a BD3,000 prize.

Seven local breeds are entered, headlined by Mudallal for Al Mohamediya, Cape Horn for Victorious, Ramani for Al Afoo and Wewonitsixtimes for M and E Racing. Khazzama will be contesting for HH Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Torpedo for HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Safwa for HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa.

In today’s penultimate event, the Horse Welfare Authority Cup will be up for grabs. It will be held over five furlongs with a BD5,000 prize, and it will see seven imported horses in the fray, including the Al Mohamediya trio of Mobaadel, Dark Shadow and Sir Henry Cotton; Four Wheel Drive of Gunners Racing, London Look for Shamtoot Syndicate and the Al Adiyat pair of Garsman and Rebel At Dawn.

Elsewhere on today’s card, two Bahrain National Gas Company Cups and two Al Bilad Newspaper Cups are up for the taking, with each having an imported and a local race. There will also be a WAHO event kicking off the day’s prorgramme at 2pm.
