Al Nasser drawn in tough group for Arab clubs volleyball

Bahrain’s Al Nasser has been drawn in a tough Group D for the preliminary round of the 38th Arab Clubs Volleyball Championship for Men.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in Cairo later this month, with twelve teams set to take part, reduced from 14 squads from across the region.
Play in the competition gets underway on 18 February with the opening stage and it continues until 3 March.
The Bahrainis have been drawn alongside Kazma SC of Kuwait and home sides Al Mina and Al Ahly SC. Group A features Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya, Masafi Alshemal of Iraq, Al Ahli SC of Qatar and Al Sadaqa VC of Palestine.
Group B comprises Baniyas VC of the UAE, Kuwait SC of Kuwait, Al Wakrah SC of Qatar and Asswehly SC of Libya.
Group C is composed of Kibel of Yemen, Al Seeb of Oman, Zamalek SC of Egypt and Alquaat of Palestine.
The full tournament schedule has yet to be released by tournament organisers. Nasser have been preparing for the championship over the past few weeks.
Coached by Brazilian Sergio Luis Cunha, Nasser’s line-up boasts top players such as Ebrahim Mohammed, Yousif Ali, Mohammed Omar, Ali Sultan, Mohammed Abdulla, Ahmed Isa, Hussain Mahdi and Jassim Turki, to name a few.
Aside from their Arab clubs bid, Nasser are also currently contending for a place in the Golden Square semi-finals of the 2022/2023 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League.
