Bahrain volleyball giants Dar Kulaib have been drawn in a tough Group B for the preliminary round of the first West Asia Men’s Club Championship.
The tournament is being organised by the West Asia Volleyball Association and it is scheduled to take place in Amman from March 7 to 18. Dar Kulaib are the lone Bahraini representatives in the competition.
They have emerged in the same pool as Al Rayyan of Qatar, South Gas SC of Iraq, Shabab Al Hussein of Jordan, and Shabab Nabi Ilyas from Palestine.
Meanwhile, Group A features Kuwait SC of Kuwait, Police SC of Qatar, Almeena VC of Yemen, Oman SC of Oman and home team Al Wehdat.
Following a single round-robin, the top four teams in each group march through to the tournament’s quarter-finals, which will be held in the knock-out system.
Dar Kulaib are currently competing in the Golden Square semi-finals of the 2022/2023 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League.
They have a number of top Bahraini players on their roster, including Mohammed Yaqoob, Ali Habib, Mahmoud Abdulwahed, Ayman Isa, Hasan Alaiwi and libero Hussain Sultan, to name a few. Their team is boosted by talented Argentinian professional Juan Barrera.
