Bahrain have named an 11-player squad for their final two qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

The nationals are scheduled to play two away games in their concluding fixtures in this phase of Asian qualification, first against Australia in Melbourne on February 23 and then against Japan in Takasaki on February 26.

The national team players include Maytham Jameel, Subah Hussain, Mohammed Ameer, Ali Hussain, Ahmed Salman, Mohammed Ghazi Qambar, Ali Jaber, Ahmed bin Daena, Ali Shukrallah, Alwethaq Ali and Wayne Chism.

The nationals left yesterday for Melbourne on a journey that will take them around 20 hours.

The Bahraini delegation is being headed by Bahrain Basketball Association national teams director Nooh Najaf and includes head coach Rasem Al Marzooqi.

Bahrain have already been eliminated from qualification for the worlds.

The Bahrainis are in Group F in this stage of the qualifiers.

In the 10 games they have played, they have won two and lost eight.

In the last window of qualifiers held in November of last year, the nationals lost both games at home against Japan and China.

Bahrain are still looking to qualify for their first-ever FIBA Basketball World Cup.
