Al Khaldiya and Al Shabab each scored resounding 3-0 victories last night in their week 15 matches of the 2022/2023 Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League.
Khaldiya outclassed Al Ahli in their game while Shabab defeated Budaiya in a clash between two of the bottom four sides. In Khaldiya’s win, Ismaeel Abdullatif opened the scoring with a free-kick in the 47th minute from several metres outside the penalty area.
His effort flew into the left of goal past Ahli keeper Ebrahim Luthfallah to give his team the lead before the half. After the restart, Khaldiya doubled their advantage in the 57th minute through Dominique Mendy with a rocket shot from the outside edge of the box.
Mendy pounced on a loose ball after a poor attempt to clear by Ahli and unleashed a powerful shot with his second touch to score. Khaldiya then applied the final nail in the coffin in the 88th minute when Samy Frioui headed home off a cross.
With the result, Khaldiya claimed their eighth win and improved to 27 points to rise to second on the league standings. Ahli were handed their fifth loss and stayed on 20 markers. In Shabab’s victory, Sayed Jawad Haider had a brace while Hussain Al Qassab supplied the other goal.
Shabab went to 17 points with their fifth win, while Budaiya suffered their 12th loss and stayed on five points. League action continues tonight when East Riffa play Bahrain Club and Muharraq lock horns with Al Hala. Both games are scheduled for 6.30pm kickoffs.
