Pourchaire shines in Formula 2 at Bahrain International Circuit

Theo Pourchaire led an ART Grand Prix frontrow lock-out yesterday for this weekend’s Formula 2 Feature Race, taking place in support of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2023 at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
Pourchaire clinched pole position after taking the top spot in qualifying with a best lap of one minute 40.903 seconds.
He finished 0.751 seconds ahead of teammate Victor Martins, while Richard Verschoor of Van Amersfoort Racing came third 0.900s off the pace.
The F2 Feature Race is scheduled for tomorrow. Meanwhile, Ralph Boschung of Campos Racing will be on pole for the F2 Sprint Race, taking place today.
Boschung came away with his leading grid slot after finishing 10th in qualifying and following F2’s reverse grid rules. His best lap was 1:42.010.
The Sprint Race is scheduled for a 4.15pm start.
It will be run over 23 laps or 45 minutes.
Earlier yesterday, Pourchaire and Martins were at the top of the F2 practice times.
Pourchaire put a lap of 1:45.984 on the board but had the slimmest of gaps of just 0.055s in front of Martins by the end of the session.
Arthur Leclerc of DAMS came third 0.099s off the pace on the 22-car classification.
