Maystar, Harbour Spirit lift GSA Cups at REHC

Maystar and Harbour Spirit won yesterday the General Sports Authority (GSA) Cups in the feature events at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
Maystar triumphed in the eighth and final race of the day, held over eight furlongs with a BD 4,000 prize.
Saddled by Ebrahim Nader, the six-year -old took first place in the one minute 34.192 seconds for Al Afoo Racing and Mahammed Hassan.
Grigadale came second for Al Mohamediya Racing, Ali Abdulmajed and Neil Callan; while Wowzers was third for Al Mohamediya, Hesham Al Haddad and Husain Makki.
Meanwhile, Harbour Spirit triumphed in the day’s seventh race, completing the 12-furlong event also with a BD4,000 prize in 2:30.524 for Ramadhan Stable and Jaber Ramadhan, while ridden by Soufiane Saadi.
Arctic Emperor was the runner-up for Al Mohamediya, Hesham Al Haddad and Neil Callan, while Glen Savage was third for M and E Racing, AM Smith and Hussain Asghar.
A third GSA Cup was on offer yesterday in the day’s fourth race, covering a distance of eight furlongs with a BD2,000 prize.
Safwa was the winner for HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Haider Ebrahim and Ebrahim Nader in 1:36.650.
Taufan was the runner-up for HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Haider Ebrahim and Abdulla Faisal; while Miblish was third for Al Nuwayef Racing, Yousif Taher and Anas Al Siyabi.
Also yesterday, The Jockey Club Cup was claimed by Dark Lion for Victorious and Fawzi Nass, Hesham Al Haddad and Stephane Ladjadj; and the Chevron Cup was taken by Amaan for Mohamed Jasim Jaafar, Talal Al Alawi and Ebrahim Nader.
