Bahrain1 Racing star Justin Bond clinched the season-opening victory in the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series in the US. Bond clinched first place in the 54th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Florida—the 2023 campaign’s first round.
He emerged victorious after defeating JR Gray in the meeting’s final round. Bond went 5.732 seconds at 250.74mph in his Bahrain1 Camaro to get past Gray and pick up his fourth career win.
Bondal sok nocked off Dwayne Wolfe, Doug Winters and defending world champion Kris Thorne to reach the final run, posting reaction times of 0.016s or better during the first three eliminations.
Bond later dedicated his victory to his mother. He commented: “It’s my mom’s birthday and she’s 82 today.
I’ve missed her last five birthdays while Pro Mod racing. “My kids flew in on Friday and we always do good when they come.
We made a little video this morning for her and this win is for her.”
The NHRA Pro Mod season is set to feature 10 rounds of action at various drag strips in the US.
