Dar Kulaib set for West Asian volleyball quarters

Bahrain’s Dar Kulaib lock horns with Oman SC of Oman this afternoon in the quarter-finals of the first West Asia Men’s Club Championship, which is currently being played in Amman, Jordan.

The game is scheduled to begin at 4pm, Bahrain time.

It will be the third fixture of the day in the tournament’s round of eight.

The other quarter-final matches will see Shabab Al Hussein of Jordan take on Kuwait SC of Kuwait at 12noon, followed by South Gas SC of Iraq facing Police SC of Qatar at 2pm.

The final contest of the evening will pit Al Rayyan of Qatar against Al Wehdat of Jordan, starting at 6pm.

Dar Kulaib qualified for the quarters after winning three of their four games in the group stage.

They first triumphed against Shabab Nabi Ilyas from Palestine in their first assignment in Group B, but then lost to Rayyan.

They bounced back against South Gas and closed out the preliminary stage with a win over Shabab Al Hussein.

Dar Kulaib finished as runners-up in their pool behind only Rayyan, who were undefeated in four games.

Coached by Brazilian head coach Leandro Kakaroto, Dar Kulaib will be relying on their top players including Mohammed Yaqoob, Nasser Anan, Mahmoud Abdulwahed, Ali Habib, Ayman Isa, libero Hussain Sultan, and Argentinian professional Juan Barrera.
