Tawaareq wins Bahrain Gold Cup

Tawaareq lifted the Bahrain Gold Cup (sponsored by stc) yesterday in the eighth and feature event at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.

Saddled by Adrie De Vries, the five-year-old gelding won the 10-furlong, BD10,000 race in one minute 59.960 seconds for owners Victorious and trainer Fawzi Nass.

Finishing behind Tawaareq was Zagato, who was a close second for Al Mohamediya Racing, Nass and Liam Keniry; while Goemon came third for MKAR Racing, Haider Ebrahim and Abdulla Faisal.

Seven other races were held yesterday as part of a packed card at REHC. In the day’s penultimate event, Immortal claimed the Owners Cup, also sponsored by stc, offering a BD7,000 total prize.

Abdulla Faisal was the winning jockey for MKAR Racing-owned, Haider Ebrahim-trained fiveyear-old, who completed the race’s 10-furlong distance in 2:04.621.

Al Tariq was the runner-up for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Fawzi Nass and Adrie De Vries, while Battle of Talas came third for Al Adiyat Racing, AM Smith and Gerald Mosse.

Meanwhile, Rebel At Dawn clinched the stc Cup in the sixth race of the day for Al Adiyat Racing and AM Smith, while saddled by Abdulla Faisal.

The five-year-old winner powered to first place across five furlongs in 59.044s to claim the lion’s share of the BD6,000 prize.

Instinctive Move was second for Al Adiyat Racing, AM Smith and Gerald Mosse, while Nationwide came third for Victorious, Fawzi Nass and Husain Makki.

Also yesterday, Returnofthemac and Malakye won the stc Pay Cups.

Returnofthemac triumphed in the fifth race for Al Mohamediya Racing, Osama Hashim and Ali Husain, while Malakye took first in race four for Al Jasmi Stable, Bader Al Abed and Marcialis Jaures.

Elsewhere, Echo Through Time and Sinatra each clinched an stc Bahrain Cup.

Echo Through Time won for Al Adiyat Racing, AM Smith and Gerald Mosse, while Sinatra triumphed for L & L Racing, AM Smith and Hussain Asghar.

The Al Roudha Cup was won yesterday by Al Krush 1786 for Al Roudha, Hussain Aldailami and Abdulla Faisal. Yesterday’s meeting was the penultimate event of the REHC’s 2022/2023 season.

The final meeting of this campaign takes place today with eight races on schedule.
