Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport are set to kick start their campaign this weekend in the 2023 Intelligent Money British GT Championship.

The squad, co-owned by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, will be competing for an exciting second full-season GT3 entry with a pair of Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars.

James Cottingham will continue his relationship with the team for a second year, joined for a run at the Pro-Am class honours by four-time series champion, Jonny Adam.

They will race with their #4 DK Engineering-backed contender. Also with 2 Seas this season is the duo of reigning champion Ian Loggie and Jules Gounon, also set to compete in the ProAm.

They will be behind the wheel of the #1 Mercedes-AMG GT3.

HH Shaikh Isa commented: “We are delighted to confirm another very strong driver pairing for the season with James and Jonny, and this really does underline our commitment to pushing for the ultimate performance and the best results.

“It is great to welcome James back to the team after such a strong season last year, and he really proved himself to be a contender against much more experienced drivers.

We were unable to secure a first race win together, but we are starting in a good position heading into the year, and feeling confident that we can tick that box.

“It is also really exciting to have one of British GT’s most successful drivers back with the team.

Jonny has proven himself to be the one to beat over the past few years, taking the title four times and about to take his 100th race start.

He brings some great experience, and we are looking forward to seeing him and James in action together.

“With this pair, and Ian and Jules alongside them in the garage, we will be pushing to challenge for results from round one, and fighting for the championship.”

The new British GT season is set to feature nine races in all, to be held over seven meetings.

The championship-opener will be from this Saturday to Monday at Oulton Park and it will include two races.

The next events will then take place at Silverstone on May 6 and 7, Donington Park on May 27 and 28, Snetterton on June 17 and 18, Autodromo do Algarve in Portugal on July 22 and 23, Brands Hatch on September 9 and 10, and then Donington Park again for the season-finale on October 21 and 22.

Snetterton will be the other meeting featuring two races, while Algarve will mark the only race taking place outside of the UK.

A media day was held last month at Donington Park, with 2 Seas taking part with both their cars.
