Dar Kulaib punched their tickets last night to the final of the 2023 Crown Prince’s Cup volleyball tournament.

The recently crowned Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League champions and three-time title-holders in the tournament secured their spot after battling past Al Nasser 3-2 (25-16, 19-25, 25-17, 23-25, 15-12) to complete a two-game sweep of their best-of-three semi-final series.

Dar Kulaib had earlier won their first meeting in four sets and yesterday closed out the match-up.

They will now play the winner of the other final four series between Al Najma and Al Ahli.

The single-game final has yet to be scheduled by the Bahrain Volleyball Association.

Dar Kulaib, coached by Brazilian Leandro Kakaroto, were led in last night’s win by star players Mohammed Yaqoob, Mahmoud Abdulwahed and Argentinian professional Juan Barrera, while getting key contributions from Abdulla Mohammed, Ali Habib, libero Hussain Sultan, Hassan Alaiwi and Ayman Isa.

Yaqoob supplied the winning spike to seal their victory after a tightly contested, seesaw affair.

Nasser, guided by Brazilian tactician Sergio Luis Cunha, relied on Yousef Khalid, Younes Abdulkarim, Mohammed Omar, Hussain Mahdi, Mohammed Jassim, Jassim Al Turki and Ebrahim Mohammed.

Dar Kulaib have won the last three editions of the Crown Prince’s Cup.

They will be looking to claim an unprecedented fourth straight title and a leagueand-cup double in this year’s competition.
