Al Ahli punched their tickets to the final of the 2023 Crown Prince’s Cup volleyball tournament following a resounding straight-sets victory over Al Najma in game two of their semi-final series.

Ahli dug deep into their arsenal to overcome their rivals 3-0 (25-22, 32-30, 25-18) and sweep their best-of-three match-up in two games. Ahli had previously claimed game one in a five-set thriller.

They have now set up a meeting for the title with recently crowned Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League champions Dar Kulaib, who are the favourites in the tournament.

Dar Kulaib have won the coveted trophy three times in a row the past three seasons and are looking for an unprecedented “four-peat”. Leading the charge for Ahli against Najma in game two was Mohammed Anan, who scored 19 points.

Mahmood Abdulhussain added 14, while Ali Alsairafi chipped in with 11 and Nasser Anan had 10 points. For Najma, Fadhel Abbas finished with 15 points as their leading scorer. Ali Ebrahim added 14 while Estonian professional Kevin Saar and Hassan Dhahi each finished with nine points in the loss.

Dar Kulaib booked their berth in the final following their own two-game sweep of Al Nasser. The single-game title-decider is scheduled for Tuesday next week, with the match’s start time still to be announced by the Bahrain Volleyball Association.
