Muharraq barged into the final of the 2022/2023 Khalifa bin Salman Cup basketball tournament last night.

The victors advanced to the title-decider after routing Sitra 100-43 in game two of their best-of-three Golden Square semi-final series, thus completing a sensational sweep.

They had earlier claimed the first game in commanding fashion, 124-60.

Muharraq repeated their dominance in yesterday’s fixture and now march through to the final, where they will face off with the winner of the other Golden Square match-up between Manama and Al Ahli.

That is going to a decisive third game after Ahli won game two 81-68. Manama had previously claimed game one 90- 88.

The winner-take-all rubber match is scheduled to take place on Friday next week.

Dewayne Jackson top scored for Muharraq with 20 points while Dajuan Summers added 17 and Bader Abdulla Malabes had 14. Abdulla Rabeea came off the bench to chip in with 13 points in the win.

For Sitra, who were playing without a professional, Ali Eid and Mohammed Abdulla had 11 and 10 points, respectively, to pace their team in the loss.

They were Sitra’s only two players in double figures.

Muharraq took a commanding 29-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, which they extended to 54-23 at the half.

In the third, they stretched their advantage to 73-33 heading into the last canto, where they enjoyed their biggest lead of 57 points, which was also their final winning margin.
