Bahrain’s Manama Club will be looking to stay alive tonight in their best-of-three championship series against Kuwait SC in the Gulf sub-zone of the 2022/2023 FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL).

After losing game one 78- 87 last week in Kuwait City, the defending Bahrain league champions will be hoping to bounce back in game two, scheduled for an 8pm tip-off at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Isa Town.

The Kuwaitis are still undefeated in the competition and Manama will need to dig deep into their arsenal to thwart their rivals’ aspirations of closing out the finals.

If needed, the winner-takeall rubber match will take place on May 22 back in Kuwait City.

As Gulf finalists, Manama and Kuwait are already assured of their places in the WASL Final 8, where they will be joined by champions of South Asia and Central Asia.

The WASL Final 8 will qualify for FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2023, on the road to FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2023, FIBA’s highest club competition.

Shabab Al Ahli of Dubai also join Manama and Kuwait as the third-placers in the Gulf sub-zone.

Only the top three teams from the Gulf sub-zone make it through as this region’s representatives in the WASL Final 8.

The WASL is a new basketball competition sanctioned by FIBA, the sport’s global governing body.

Manama are one of 16 teams that have taken part in this inaugural edition.
