Bahrain have been drawn in a tough Group B for the Asian Men’s Qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris next year.
The draw was held by the Asian Handball Federation for 12 participating teams vying for just one spot at the Olympics.
The Kingdom’s senior men’s national team are in the same division as Iran, Kuwait, Uzbekistan, Japan and Kazakhstan.
Group A features Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Korea, the UAE, India and China.
The competition will be held from October 18 to 28 in Doha.
Bahrain won the previous edition of the tournament and made history with their first-ever appearance at the men’s handball tournament at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
It was also the first time in the history of Bahrain that the Kingdom qualified for any team sport at the Olympics.
At the Paris Olympic Games 2024, there will be 12 teams participating.
There will be one berth each from this year’s world championship, which winners Denmark have secured, as well as from the Americas, Asia, Europe, Africa and six from the 2024 IHF Men’s Olympic Qualification Tournaments.
Bahrain’s national handball squad is currently training under head coach Aron Kristjansson for their participation at the Hangzhou Asian Games, which will be held right before the qualifying tournament.
